Quadriceps Tendinopathy: Early Stage
Pain just above your kneecap?? If so, this one’s for you!
Today’s post contains some examples of early stage rehab exercises for quadriceps tendinopathy.
What on earth is that though??
As you can see in our cover pic, the quadriceps tendon sits just above the patella (kneecap), when consistently overloaded it can start to become irritated and then potentially… degenerate 😫
This process is commonly termed as ‘tendinopathy’.
Usually we start by first offloading the tendon by improving quads flexibility 🧘♀️ and decreasing tension💆♂️ in and around the area. Then, gradually start facilitating neuromuscular activation to the quads 🔥, with subsequent further loading to improve strength and resiliency to the area and surrounding musculature 🏋♀️
Important to note is the reason 𝗪𝐇𝐘 it occurred? Could be – not enough rest & recovery, too much exercise/load too soon, movement dysfunctions, inadequate localised & functional strength, etc.
